Carousels of slides, scanned sharp.
every family has a tray labeled 'vacation 1971'

Slides were how a generation showed off its best photography, and the film in those little cardboard mounts often out-resolves any print made from it. Scanned at high resolution, a 50-year-old Kodachrome can look like it was shot last summer.

Why now
What time does to slides & negatives
Dyes fade and shift
Slide and negative dyes fade and shift with heat and time, and every decade takes a little more color.
Mounts invite mold
Cardboard mounts attract moisture and mold in storage, which can etch the film itself.
Often the only original
Negatives are usually the only original. A lost or damaged strip means the photo is gone in its best form.

Worth knowing before you drop off
- Keep slides in their trays or boxes, out of daylight and away from damp.
- Handle negatives by the edges only. Skin oils etch the emulsion over time.
- Don't toss the negatives after scanning prints. The negative usually holds more detail than any print made from it.
Quick answers
What resolution do you scan at?
Slides and negatives are scanned at 2400 dpi as high-quality JPGs, which is enough to reprint or zoom well past the original size. Negatives include conversion to a positive image.
Can you fix the color on faded slides?
Yes. Color correction and digital enhancements are available on request, quoted by the job.
