Videotapes

What do T-120, T-140, and T-160 on my VHS label mean?

The T-number is the tape's length in minutes at standard speed, so a T-120 holds 2 hours at SP. Recorded in the slower LP or EP modes, that same T-120 can hold up to 6 hours, and a T-160 up to 8. Anything with more than an hour of footage takes the over-1-hour rate, and longer recordings also need more room on your drive (a 2-hour tape is about 4 GB).

We estimate how many feet of footage by looking at the diameter of the reel: 3" is about 50 feet of film, 5" is about 200 feet and 7" about 400 feet. Cleaning/repair included in price. Other formats and enhancements: Please contact us for a quote.

We will provide a thumb drive that fits the entire order transfer. Contact us for a quote on drives with more capacity. A 2-hour video tape typically requires around 4GB of space for a high quality transfer. Upon request, we can compress the files for your convenience in uploading to a cloud storage service.
